Draymond’s headlock on Gobert makes headlines minutes into the game
Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels are sent off for arguing on the court, and Draymond Green is sent off for putting Rudy Gobert in a headlock.
SAN FRANCISCO – Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jaden McDaniels were ejected Tuesday night after getting into a fight less than two minutes into their regular-season tournament game .
Just 100 seconds into the contest, McDaniels and Thompson clashed in transition when Thompson held McDaniels’ jersey while waiting for a long rebound. McDaniels grabbed Thompson and both refused to let go as they walked across the field.
They began swinging and shoving each other, which resulted in McDaniels ripping Thompson’s jersey and Thompson swinging his arm at McDaniels.
As other players rushed toward the two, Green put Minnesota center Rudy Gobert in a headlock. Coaches pushed Green away from Gobert while others separated McDaniels and Thompson.
After a review, McDaniels and Thompson were each assessed two technical fouls, and Green received flagrant foul No. 2. This is the first game in the last 25 seasons in which multiple players were sent off before either team scored achieved, according to a study by ESPN Stats & Information.
This is Green’s second ejection of the season after being substituted against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday.
