You look at him and think of Andrew DeLuca and then you admire him in an extraordinary Diabolik directed by the Manetti brothers. Giacomo Gianniotti, a Hollywood star that Italy is proud of. There? Because it is “very Roman”.

Fame comes with me Grey’s anatomy – seven years, from 2015 to 2021 – in which Dr. DeLuca was able to work out more and more space. But Giacomo not only dreams of television and whether he can go to the cinema in the legendary tracksuit criminal mastermind created by the Giussani sisters in his native Italy. We’ve seen it on the big screen and it’s all the better for it.

Two-row interview by Mirco Giovannini with Giacomo Gianniotti

Let’s start with a personal question: How Italian do you feel, yes, since you were born in Rome, how Roman do you feel?
Quite a lot of. I know you well Rome, I grew up with it. The District of Garbatella where I lived in via della Circonvallazione Ostiense; the park near my house where I used to play; the dolls at the EUR lake; the carnival, the supplì, the roman pines… And above all, if you grew up in Rome you have an obligation to do so Never be touchynever take life too seriously.

They debuted in a 1999 film by Giulio Base La Bomba, shot in Cinecittà, a legendary location in Italian cinema and beyond. What do you remember from this experience?
A strong feeling that I will never forget and that I always try to keep in mind in my work today. The feeling “Game”, to play, to have fun in the get lost in the imaginationuntil someone yells”BREAK‘ and in that moment you remember that you are human, normal, like everyone else, and you are at work. A nice work. When I work today, I always try to have the same thing joy that I had as a child Julius base who offered me a very small role in his film La Bomba. Then, another thing I couldn’t imagine at the time is who I was working with winner and Alexander Gassman, Henry Brignanoin short, very successful artists.

Your favorite place in Rome?

Il Giardino degli Aranci, both for the view and for the memories, I brought books, friends and I watched Rome from the shade of an orange treeastonishing.

And instead in Italy?

Capri. I guess I don’t have to say why Capri is unique.

How much did being Italian help you in the cinema?

I don’t know, I don’t have another life to compare myself to, but it definitely helped to give all my characters something specialdefinitely helped me so much with languages. Being Italian I saw a lot of it as a kid Historical Italian cinema and if it hadn’t been me, I might not have seen him so young.

Was Andrew DeLuca the perfect role for you?

Maybe right now. It’s helped my career a lot and given me a lot, but seven years is seven years. I made some friendships which I think I’ll keep For the whole life, I’ve learned so muchI left after I was done direct an episodeand it was a nice experience. Andrew DeLuca gave me the opportunity to tell beautiful stories and portray this special state of life in a television series bipolarity. By showing how those affected can get help; just ask.

Back to the movies, in 2016 you get a role in Stephen Hopkins’ Race, a biopic about the life of Jesse Owens. How is it different from the series?
For a film, the preparation is completely different. It’s like walking into a gallery, getting lost and walking out a few months later without knowing how you got there. but TV series last longer usually and then you have to play an often longer-term role. It can sometimes be more difficult. I did a lot of TV until now, I would like to get more involved in film projects for now and explore, do more projects with different directors.

We know you shot in Italy; You have landed the role of Diabolik in the Manetti Bros. sequel. Tell us about this project.

Diabolik is an iconic character, very Italian, the world knows that. It was truly an honor to wear yours fit. In my professional life, I’ve never been asked to give up a role and work harder. I worked for… Turn me into Diabolikphysically and mentally: i gesturesthe way of speaking; All my rhythms have changed get into character. Sometimes the work that seems the most difficult, that seems furthest to us at the beginning, is the one that allows you to grow the most as an actor and enjoy yourself the most as a person. I’m very proud of what we’ve built with the Manetti Bros. and I can’t wait to show it to the public. I have to say that Miriam Leone like my Eve Kant was just perfect; all the to water really talented. I’m a real lucky guy.
