THAILAND (WKRC) – A groom killed four people, including his own bride, at a wedding on Saturday.
According to the BBC, 29-year-old Chaturong Suksuk killed his bride, 44-year-old Kanchana Pachutehuek, after they got married in Thailand. According to the station, Chaturong abruptly left the wedding reception, returned with a gun and shot his wife, her 62-year-old mother and her 38-year-old sister.
According to the BBC, two other guests were hit by stray bullets and one of those people later died.
According to The Independent, the groom took his own life shortly after the fire opened.
Police, speaking to the BBC, said Chaturong, a Paralympic athlete and former soldier, “was quite drunk at the time”, although they noted his exact motive remained unknown. According to the BBC, Thai media quoted guests claiming the couple argued during the party and claimed Chaturong felt insecure because of the age difference between him and his bride.
Authorities added that the claims were merely speculation and said more evidence needed to be collected, although they expected to close the case soon, according to the BBC.
According to the BBC, Chaturong was a silver medalist at the Asean Para Games in Indonesia in 2022. Chaturong lost his right leg while serving with the paramilitary light infantry force responsible for patrolling Thailand’s borders, the network said.
