Growing Up, renewed for season 5, Marcus Scribner joins cast as Andre

The end of Cal U shouldn’t mean the end of adulthood, as Freeform has renewed the black spin-off for a 5th season.

Speaking of blacks, Marcus Scribner, who co-starred as Johnson’s brother Andre in all eight seasons of Mothership, will join the adult cast in season five “as he embarks on his own journey to being ‘adult’.” . ” according to Freeform’s official statement. (The black series finale airs this spring on ABC.)

In terms of behind-the-camera changes, season 4 showrunner Julie Bean is leaving the series, as is executive producer Jennifer Rice-Genzouk Henry. Courtney Lilly, who currently serves as showrunner for The Black, and Zakia Alexander (La Brea, The Hunters) will co-showrunner the fifth season.

The “grown up” update comes less than three weeks before the Season 4 finale, which is due to air Thursday, March 24th at 10/9c. In the fourth season of the show, Zoe from Yara Shahidi and her friends are preparing to graduate from UCLA. The ensemble also includes Trevor Jackson as Aaron, Francia Raisa as Ana, Emily Arlouk as Nomi, Jordan Buhat as Vivek, Luka Sabbat as Luka and Chloe, and Halle Bailey as Jazz and Sky Forster.
