Guard attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral found dead in barracks

An 18yearold security guard who escorted Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin during her funeral was found dead in a London barracks last week. The cause of death was not released by police, who said in a statement they were not treating them as suspects.

British media such as the BBC and Dailymail reported on the case last Friday (30). On Wednesday (28th) police and paramedics were called to the barracks near Buckingham Palace and found Jack BurnellWilliams already dead.

“It is with sadness that we confirm the death of Private Jack BurnellWilliams on 28 September 2022 at Hyde Park Barracks,” an Army spokesman told The Guardian. “Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family and friends at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy be respected.”

On the day of Elizabeth II’s funeral, the BurnellWilliams family released videos of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment amid the procession, saying their son was “discharging his duty to the Queen on her final journey”.

During the funeral service on September 19, Household Cavalry guards escorted King Charles and other members of the royal family.
