Royal guards faint due to UK heat

At least three members of Britain’s Royal Guard fainted from the heat during a military parade in London on Saturday (10). Known as the Colonel’s Review, the parade was inspected by the heir to the throne, Prince William, who is the Honorary Colonel of the Welsh Guard.

Although the temperature hovered in the 80s, the more than 1,400 officers who attended the event were dressed in woolen tunics and bearskin hats, adding to the feeling of warmth.

“[Foi] “It’s like being in a sauna with a 200kg dumbbell in your left hand,” said James Calford, one of the soldiers, according to The Telegraph. “[A cerimônia] It’s a lot harder than it looks on TV.”

The occasion was a rehearsal for Trooping the Color, which will take place next Saturday (17) in the presence of King Charles III. will be held. The military parade takes place in June each year and marks one of the monarch’s official birthdays traditionally the king celebrates his birthday twice a year.

“A big thank you to all the Soldiers who attended the Colonel’s Review in the heat this morning. Difficult conditions but you all did a very good job. Thanks very much. W,” Prince William posted on a social network.
