Prohiben en Francia manifestaciones frente al Consejo Constitucional

Guatemala has its entire police force dedicated to protecting New Year's Eve parties

The Interior Ministry said in a statement to the press that these forces will be deployed at key points to prevent illegal actions and that operations and actions will be intensified in the coming hours.

Mingob boss Byron René Bor named tourist areas, beaches, leisure centers and amusement parks as the main protected areas.

The aim is “to offer security to the families who choose these destinations for the celebrations,” emphasized the minister.

In the text, he called on the population to take the “necessary precautionary measures” to avoid “becoming victims of crime.”

The security agency said it will pay special attention to bank branches, ATMs, shopping malls, markets, squares, businesses and bus terminals.

The Mingob specified that the police will also install mobile operations “on streets, avenues and paths of the national territory to check whether there may be pending arrest warrants against people.”

He mentioned that he would also monitor the transfer of illegal items that could endanger the lives, integrity or heritage of Guatemalans and foreign tourists.

The year-end celebrations, as elsewhere in the world, occupy an important place in the identity and cultural construction of Chapina society; However, many prefer to spend it at home with friends and family.

The insecurity caused by robberies, extortion and violence, analysts point out, directly affects people's behavior patterns and limits their public coexistence, recreation and movement.

Anyway, the City Council of La Antigua Guatemala has called for Lúmino Fest, a party near Central Park and Cerro de la Cruz, tomorrow the 31st at 7:30 p.m. local time.

In other parts of the country, musical projects are presented and there are those who prefer to greet the year even from the height of one of the volcanoes of this Central American territory.
