Rio Three years after Gugu Liberato’s death, Thiago Salvático lost the lawsuit he brought to have his alleged relationship with the presenter recognized as a stable union. In the decision of the São Paulo Court of Justice, filed on December 15, Judge José Walter Chacon Cardoso took the view that the two were just friends and ruled out the possibility of a romantic relationship between the chef and the presenter, which ended in November 2019 after a Suffering died a domestic accident. The information was provided by columnist Gabriel Perline from the “iG” portal.

According to the journalist, the document states that evidence presented by Thiago at the end of last year was analyzed, including photos of international trips and news exchanges over the Internet, in which the two even spoke about starting a family. For the judge in the case, however, not even the romantic remarks support the discourse that the chef would have dated Gugu, née Antônio Augusto Moraes Liberato, between 2012 and 2019.

“Only from what is told in the initial one can conclude that the author and the deceased were friends, had some kind of loving relationship, even had a boyfriend, but it is impossible to say so much that the author himself it does not say that they are considered a couple who have a stable, public and lasting relationship, as if they were married and aiming to start a family,” explained Cardoso.

The judge added: “Also, and above all, the narrative makes it clear that everything would have happened in secret, with absolute respect for the privacy of the deceased, but also without reaching the knowledge of Antônio Augusto’s relatives. The clandestine involvement as it is known, even outside the family framework of the parties, does not correspond even theoretically to a stable union”.

Ice cream shop owner in Germany Thiago Salvático spoke about the defeat and said he intends to appeal the decision. “I will appeal because I am absolutely certain that I had a stable relationship with Gugu. Everyone who was close to him knew it. There was no global and Brazilian openness because our family was not a traditional Brazilian family. But I know we had a stable union and I will appeal, I will claim all my rights,” he said in an audio message sent to the columnist.

“And it’s not a financial issue, okay? It’s not money. Thank God it’s not like that. I want to appeal for me and for him, for our association that we had,” the chef said.

This isn’t the first time Thiago has filed a lawsuit to demand recognition of his romance with Gugu as a stable union. In April 2020, he had launched another identical process but withdrew the case, claiming he made an “intimate decision”. At the time, Rose Miriam di Matteo also filed a similar request after not being included in Gugu’s will, with whom she had three children, João Augusto, 21, and twins Marina and Sofia, 19.

Gugu died on November 22, 2019. He was in the attic of his home in Orlando, USA when he fell about four meters high and fell down the stairs after the ground gave way.
