Guillaume Cyr in The Sticky, a series about “the maple syrup heist of the century” – Radio-Canada.ca

Quebec actor Guillaume Cyr will be part of the cast of the English-language series The Sticky, co-produced by Jamie Lee Curtis, which will narrate “the maple syrup heist of the century” that happened just over 10 years ago in Centre-du -Quebec.

The series will be based on the story that made international headlines in 2011 about the theft of 70% of the world’s maple syrup supply in Quebec.

The cover-up, estimated at US$18 million, was discovered during a routine inspection by the Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (PPAQ, formerly the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (FPAQ)) at their Saint-Louis of Blandford warehouse in 2012. This is the largest theft investigated in the history of the Sûreté du Québec.

Richard Vallières, convicted of theft in 2016, was released in March 2022 in the Supreme Court. He was ordered to pay approximately $9.1 million in compensation.

Alongside Guillaume Cyr, who will play security guard Rémy Bouchard, the series also stars Margo Martindale as maple syrup producer Ruth Landry and Chris Diamantopoulos as gangster Mike Byrne.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who won her first Oscar for her role in Everything, Everywhere, Everything At Once on March 11, will executive produce the series produced by Amazon, Blumhouse Television, Megamix, Comet Pictures and Canadian company Sphère Média act series .

The Sticky will be shot in and around Montreal by Canadian directors Michael Dowse (Goon: Badass, Stuber) and Joyce Wong (Spencer Sisters, Sort of) and is slated for release on the Prime Video platform in 2024.
