Guitarist, singer and songwriter David Crosby (pictured) died on Thursday (19) in the United States at the age of 81. The information was confirmed by his family.

Crosby was a founding member of two successful bands, shaped folk rock from the 1960s to 1970s and was part of the Byrds from 1964 to 1967, who were considered the “American answer” to the Beatles the group topped the American charts with a version of “Mr . Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan in 1965.

In 1969, the guitarist formed a supergroup with Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield and Graham Nash of the Hollies. Crosby, Stills and Nash, accompanied occasionally by Neil Young, had great success with their albums at the turn of the ’60s and ’70s.
