Kevin Legoute, a man with numerous criminal records, appeared at the Montreal courthouse. He faces multiple firearms charges.
It was around 4:30 a.m. Thursday when Sûreté du Québec (SQ) patrol officers from the Montreal highway station saw his car on the shoulder of Highway 15 South. The suspect is said to have committed several traffic safety violations. The driver is said to have swapped places with the passenger while the vehicle was still driving.
During the arrest near Queen Mary Road, police identified the driver, who was now a passenger in the vehicle, and arrested him for failure to comply with conditions, according to the SQ. At the time, he had a loaded firearm, which was confiscated by authorities.
Legoute, who initially gave police a false identity, was also arrested on an arrest warrant issued against him. He is currently in custody.
