“We received a first call for an injured person around 11am in the Chemin de la Branche-Ouest sector. According to our information, at least one shot was fired at him,” confirmed Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), to the Journal.

The victim was then taken to a hospital, where she is in critical but stable condition.

“Because it was suspected that the suspect was still there, the alarm was raised before 2 p.m.,” explains Ms. St-Pierre.

The armed person was eventually located and subdued by police in the area around 5:45 p.m. The citizens of La Doré therefore remained on high alert for almost 5 hours, where they had to lock their doors and stay away from windows.

The SQ states that the suspect lives in Longueuil and is 53 years old.

“He should normally appear on Sunday afternoon,” confirms the SQ, without giving further details on the charges against him.

Note that the suspect was met by investigators from the SQ’s Main Criminal Investigation Service. A forensic identification technician was also dispatched to the crime scene. The investigation is still ongoing at the time of publication of this text.
