Gustavo Mendes admits he misrepresented an attack Tribuna de Minas

Comedian Gustavo Mendes admitted he was wrong when he said he was the victim of an attack in the early hours of January 5. In a post on social networks this Tuesday (17), the comedian claims that due to the highs he suffered in the head, he did not remember the facts well and was therefore wrong in the statement.

“I was wrong about that complaint but the act itself is there, I was a victim of that aggression, I suffered that aggression, I could be dead at this point,” says the comedian. Mendes even condemned the people who criticized him for lying. “Convicting me for misunderstanding the facts is stupid, man, I sustained head trauma.” He also thanked the work of the civilian police, who he said were agile and competent.

Mendes gave details of the night, saying that while leaving a bar after drinking, he was stopped by a “sleazy” woman asking for money. “There’s a phrase I always say when I don’t want to give money or don’t have it. “Do you have any money to give me?” ‘I have, but I won’t’.” The confusion would have started from there. According to him, the woman reached out to her husband, who threw the intoxicants at her.

Comedian attacked with stones

Earlier this month, the comedian posted a video on social media in which he recounted suffering an attempted robbery on Avenida Itamar Franco in Juiz de Fora. With his head bandaged and bloodstains on his clothing, he said he was allegedly attacked by two men and a woman while waiting for an app car at the exit of a South Zone bar.

In an exclusive interview with Tribuna, he said the alleged attacker acted like he had a gun. However, realizing that this was not the case, Gustavo would have confronted him. At that moment, the suspect hit him with stones. “That’s why I say to everyone: Never respond to an attack. Wallet, money, car we recover, except for life,” he told the report.

The police have ruled out an attempted robbery

However, last Wednesday (November 11), the civilian police ruled out the possibility of an attempted robbery. According to the boss responsible for the case, Daniel Buchmüller, the first investigation phase was completed with the identification of the suspects, which now qualifies the act as bodily harm.

In a press conference, the delegate explained that investigation by the various security cameras scattered across the street revealed that the comedian was hostile to the attacker before he was injured. Then, in a new argument, the man throws two stones and hits Gustavo in the head, who then chases the attacker.

According to the Civil Police, the second phase of the investigation is trying to identify the motivation for the aggression, as well as the comedian’s behavior. If there is evidence that he lied to the police when he said he suffered an attempted robbery, Gustavo can respond for the crime of slanderous denunciation.
