Former chef and founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberté, has put his magnificent residence in the Outremont district up for sale, 17 years after purchasing it.

According to real estate agent Mélanie Bergeron, this is the most expensive home for sale in Outremont and the asking price is quite high for the area.
“The sale will probably take a long time,” the broker explained in an interview with Mario Dumont on Monday. “Will anyone withdraw their investments to buy? “It’s a very exclusive clientele,” she says.
Nevertheless, the agent emphasizes that the property is an “extraordinary” property.
If the most expensive home sold in Outremont cost almost $6.2 million, this one has unique qualities that justify the higher amount.
Fine materials, numerous renovations and expansions over the years will appeal to potential buyers, she believes.
The property, which is not overlooked, is located on a wooded plot and close to all services. According to Ms. Bergeron, the location itself is exceptional.
“It’s exceptional and located in the heart of Montreal. The character also has an appeal,” she adds.
The Maplewood Street castle was purchased by the businessman for $2.5 million in October 2006 and has been for sale on the REALTOR.ca website since last Thursday.
Listed for $13.88 million, the luxury residence has eight bedrooms and six bathrooms. Between 2007 and 2009, the billionaire carried out extensive renovations and expansions of the building, which was built in 1930. These works, estimated at $3 million, allowed for the extension of the house’s front yard, the remodeling of all rooms and the addition of an office for the billionaire.
Note that Guy Laliberté also owns a residence in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville worth $4.5 million.
