‘This makes me melt when I see it’: Gwen Stefani gets emotional after being shown a photo of her first red carpet appearance with Blake Shelton six years ago
Gwen Stefani got a little emotional while discussing her first red carpet appearance alongside Blake Shelton.
Kelly Clarkson showed the 53-year-old singer-songwriter a photo of Stefani in a beautiful red dress from the Vanity Fair Oscar party in February 2016. She then asked Gwen what “occasion” she wore the dress to.
“That was my first public date with Blake Shelton,” she revealed to the audience, who cried out in delight.

Clarkson said she didn’t notice, but told her how much she loved the dress.
Stefani continued, “It was the Vanity Fair party for the Oscars. I think I played at the party and then we went out that night.’
To make it even more special, the Hollaback Girl singer admitted that Shelton is “never into red carpets,” but made an exception for her.

“I always melt so much when I see it because it’s such a moment for me,” Stefani said as she seemed to get a little emotional.
Clarkson then said she looked like the inspiration for the Chris de Burgh song The Lady In Red.
Stefani and Shelton began dating in 2015 when they were both judges on The Voice. They got engaged in 2020 and married last summer.

Clarkson and Stefani then discussed another dress that Stefani wore to the Met Ball in May of that year.
The dress was made by Vera Wang, and Stefani was quick to shower the 73-year-old designer with praise.
“She’s just so talented,” Stefani said. “Vera has been doing this for so long, so it was just incredible to be able to work with her.”
The No Doubt star said Vera’s original sketch looked almost identical to the finished product and she was blown away to see the dress really come to life.
