Gwyneth Paltrow says she briefly thought a 2016 skiing collision was actually a sexual assault, and was “frozen” when a set of skis suddenly “forced my legs apart.”

Terry Sanderson, 76, has accused the Hollywood star of colliding with him on a ski slope at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah in February 2016, leaving him with “permanent traumatic brain injury, four broken ribs, pain, suffering, Loss of zest for life, emotional distress and disfigurement”.

Meanwhile, Paltrow claims it was Mr Sanderson who bumped into her – and that he subsequently told his daughter he was “famous”. The Goop mogul is expected to be called to the witness stand by Mr Sanderson’s lawyers today.

In court Thursday, Sanderon’s attorney Robert Sykes slapped the star’s legal team for asking his daughter about allegations by another daughter that her father was abusive.

Mr Sykes claimed that Paltrow’s team only took this route because the actor was “concerned about the progression of this case”.

“You can’t just attack someone’s character just because their client is concerned about how this case is going,” he said.

Mr. Sanderson is seeking $300,000 from Paltrow while she is seeking token $1 in damages and coverage for her attorneys’ fees.

Terry Sanderson’s lawyer has claimed Gwyneth Paltrow is “concerned” about the way the trial is going.

GoPro footage of Gwyneth Paltrow’s skiing accident may not exist

Rumored GoPro video footage of Paltrow’s skiing collision may not exist, the court heard Friday.

Earlier during the trial, footage of the incident from 2016 was referenced in an email from Mr Sanderson’s daughter.

The jury was previously shown an email from Shae Sanderson-Herath suggesting possible GoPro footage of the crash.

But Ms Sanderson-Herath testified on Friday she had not seen such footage, although she believed it existed at the time.

“After my dad told me what he was feeling and that he could barely think and that he rang his bell, I think he mentioned that there had to be GoPro video,” she told the court.

“He said there had to be GoPro footage because there was this big, blood-curdling scream that meant someone with a GoPro would have turned around to look and record it.”

She added: “I’ve never seen a GoPro video and I don’t know if it exists. I believed at the time that GoPro video existed, and that’s why I said that. I just wanted my dad to know there was video out there showing what happened.”

Gwyneth Paltrow ski accident robs victims of ‘joy of life’

The radiologist dr. Wendell Gibby, who examined Mr Sanderson, told the court the man had the “typical features” of a brain injury and his quality of life “deteriorated abruptly” after the accident, changing things drastically for the typically “very well-functioning person,” energetic Person.”

“Terry was a high-functioning, active person,” said Dr. Gibby. “Every day he did many things. Group meetings, wine tasting, skiing, volunteering.”

“I think Terry lost the ability to function at a high level…many of the things that brought him joy in life seem to have been abruptly diminished by this injury,” the doctor continued.

The radiologist said Mr Sanderson’s injuries, including broken ribs, were not “plausible” according to Ms Paltrow’s version of events, where the Goop mogul argues it was Mr Sanderson who rammed her without warning.

Dispute about what happened after the collision

The man who skied with the movie star was Eric Christensen. First, he and the Deer Valley Resort Company were named in the petition. They were later removed when a judge narrowed the dispute down to the collision and between Ms Paltrow and Mr Sanderson, removing the hit-and-run issue from the dispute.

The ruling meant that the negligence suit has now been filed against Ms Paltrow for allegedly causing the crash, while what happened afterward is barred from prosecution, KSL reported.

“No one with knowledge of Ms. Paltrow’s post-collision actions claims to have observed Paltrow behaving recklessly,” the judge wrote in his order. “Even if you interpret it in the most favorable light [Sanderson]the undisputed facts do not support his contention that Paltrow’s post-collision actions were likely to result in significant damage, that they were grossly unreasonable or an extreme departure from usual care, or that they involved an obvious and high degree of danger.

While Mr Sanderson alleges that Ms Paltrow and Deer Valley employees drove away after the collision, Ms Paltrow alleges Mr Sanderson told Mr Christensen that he was fine. Ms Paltrow says in her counterclaim Mr Christensen alleged in a report that Mr Sanderson was responsible because he “took”. [Paltrow] out from behind”.

Mr Sanderson’s legal papers state that the report is incorrect as the employee did not witness the collision.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘reckless’ skiing caused serious brain injuries, according to court

The Oscar winner is being sued by retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, who alleges she “got out of control” and hit him at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.

Paltrow appeared in court Tuesday for opening statements in the case, wearing a high-necked cream sweater and brown pants.

Lawrence Buhler, representing Mr. Sanderson, told jurors that Paltrow’s conduct on the mountain in 2016 was “reckless.”

“Ladies and gentlemen…distracted skiers cause falls. Defendant Gwyneth Paltrow knew it was dangerous to look up and to the side while driving down the mountain,” he said.

“[She] looked elsewhere and blindly looked down a mountain while looking up… [this] was reckless.”

Mr. Buhler added that an injury caused was “not a matter of if, but of when” and that Paltrow “knew that what she was doing was dangerous.”

He went on to tell the jury that the actor’s “neglect and conscious choices” combined resulted in Mr. Sanderson causing “four broken ribs and permanent brain damage.”
