Dee Dee's murder occurred on June 10, 2015, at the Blanchard family home in Springfield, Missouri.
According to reports and testimony presented during the trial, Gypsy Rose provided Godejohn with specific details about her mother's everyday life, including the location of items and the layout of the house. That night, Godejohn arrived at the Blanchard home and stabbed his girlfriend's mother to death while she slept in her bed.
After the murder, the young men fled together to Wisconsin, where they were found a few days later. During his escape Gypsy Rose wrote on social media that her mother had been murdered and that she herself went missing, prompting authorities to investigate the case.
They were arrested and extradited to Missouri, where they were charged with murder. During the trial, Gypsy pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Godejohn was found guilty of first-degree murder and received a life sentence.

According to the “TMZ” portal, Gypsy Rose will be released from prison early thanks to being granted parole. According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, his conditional release is scheduled for Dec. 28, three years earlier than his original release date.
