Gypsy Rose Blanchard celebrated her freedom on Sunday after being released from prison on parole last week following a 10-year sentence in connection with the murder of her mother, who had subjected her to years of medical abuse.

Gypsy Rose – who persuaded her then-boyfriend to kill her mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in 2015 – said she was “finally free” and thanked her followers for “the tremendous support” as she promoted her new e-book and the upcoming one Documentary presented series.

“I’m finally free,” she exclaimed in a video on TikTok on Sunday.

“I just want to send a quick video to thank everyone for the tremendous support I have received on social media. Everyone has been really, really nice and supportive and I really appreciate that.

“It’s nice to be home, I’m back home in Louisiana enjoying a beautiful day outside.”

Gypsy Rose was released from a Missouri prison last Thursday after serving most of her sentence in connection with her mother's murder.

For years, Dee Dee Blanchard forced her daughter to pretend she was suffering from incurable and debilitating illnesses.

The mother even forced Gypsy to travel in a wheelchair and use a feeding tube, even though she was a completely healthy young girl.

Dee Dee had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental disorder in which parents seek sympathy through their children's made-up illnesses.

Through her crazy ruse, she received tons of charity, including a new house, and even fooled doctors by claiming her child's medical records were lost in Hurricane Katrina.

Gypsy was also deceived by her mother about her health, especially when she was younger.

Eventually, Gypsy convinced an online friend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother, claiming in his 2018 trial that she wanted to free herself from her overbearing parents.

Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and is serving a life sentence, while Blanchard took a deal for a 10-year sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree murder in 2016.

During the one-minute video on Sunday, the former inmate reminded his followers to tune in to the three-part documentary “The Confession of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.” The show premieres next week on Lifetime.

She also said that she has published an e-book called “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom” and that she is “super proud” of the book.

“It's not a rehash of everything that happened, it's more my reflection of everything I've learned and experienced over the last eight and a half years,” she said.

In another video on Sunday, Blanchard wished fans a happy New Year's Eve and said she would celebrate 2024 with her husband, Chris Anderson, whom she married last year, as well as her father and stepfather.

“So we want to ring in the new year together and it will be really great to have some family time after such a long time,” she said.
