Nicholas “Nick” Godejohn is serving a life sentence without parole at another Missouri prison.
Blanchard's mother, who was 48, suffered from Munchausen by proxy, but it was her daughter who suffered.
Munchausen syndrome is when a guardian overacts or makes a child sick in order to gain their own attention and compassion.
Her mother had insisted that she was suffering from various made-up illnesses that caused her to undergo surgeries and take medication for no reason since she was still a baby.
The high-profile abuse case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, now 32, led to documentaries, an HBO film and a Hulu series.
She is released on parole from Chillicothe Correctional Center, two years shy of her 10-year sentence for second-degree murder.
The Missouri Department of Corrections now lists her legal name as Gypsy R. Anderson because she married behind bars last year.
