Habeck wants mandatory energy savings also for individuals

Germany wants to reduce gas consumption by 2% with savings targets for public and private users. This is reported by the Portal news agency and refers to circles in the German Ministry of Economic Affairs. The specifications apparently include heating savings for public buildings.

German Federal Economy Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) had already announced stricter energy-saving regulations. “We will issue regulations on the Energy Security Act,” Habeck told the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Habeck had already presented the first key points in July. For example, private pools should no longer be heated. With the exception of social facilities and hospitals, public buildings should only be heated to 19 degrees. The economy must also come into the world of work. However, the details would have to be discussed first with the Ministry of Labor and the social partners.

Cold rooms, dark advertising

Ministry circles say, however, that hallways, foyers or large halls should no longer be heated. To save electricity too, the lighting of buildings or monuments should be turned off completely. The same is foreseen for outdoor advertising from 22:00. According to the information, the government has introduced two regulations that are based on the Energy Security Act.
