Hackers broke into a Russian TV station on Sunday and broadcast a video mocking Russian President Vladimir Putin after the Kremlin speculated an offensive had begun from Ukraine.

Footage from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense shows a group of soldiers with a forefinger to their lips and the caption: “Plans like silence”.

“There will be no ‘Here We Go’ announcement,” the caption reads.

The Russian government interrupted the signal shortly after the hacking attack. “The transmissions of several cable operators in Crimea were hacked,” said Oleg Kryuchkov, a Putinappointed Crimean official.

On Sunday, the Russian government said it had repelled a “largescale offensive” by Ukrainian forces in Donetsk. Footage released by Moscow showed suspected Ukrainian armored vehicles being blown up after they hit a field.

Forces led by Putin reported that 250 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 16 tanks, 3 infantry fighting vehicles and 21 armored vehicles were destroyed in the clash.

Recently, the high command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that there would be no official announcement about the start of a counterattack. For months, Kiev has been promising a “spring offensive” aimed at regaining territory lost since Putin’s army invaded last February.
