Hailey Bieber underwent heart surgery after suffering a “mini-stroke” last month.
The 25-year-old supermodel revealed that she recently had a patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure procedure to patch a hole in her heart.
“It went very smoothly … I’m recovering really well, very quickly,” she said in a new YouTube video titled Tell My Story.
After being admitted to a Palm Springs-area hospital with stroke-like symptoms last month, Bieber discovered she had a blood clot that traveled to her brain and caused a transient ischemic attack (TIA).
However, doctors could not figure out how the blood clot ended up there.
“When I went to UCLA, we did more in-depth testing… to find a PFO,” she explained in the video, describing a PFO as “a valve between the right and left ventricles of the heart.”

“It should normally close on its own at birth,” she added, noting that hers didn’t close.
“They found I had a fifth grade, which is the best grade you can get. Mine was pretty big. What usually happens is the heart filters the clot into the lungs and the lungs absorb it because they are so big and can handle it.”

However, the blood clot “escaped through the hole in my heart and traveled to my brain and that’s why I suffered from it [mini stroke].”
Justin Bieber’s wife said she’s “just grateful they found it,” and her doctors performed a procedure where they use “a button” to close the valve in the heart.
Baldwin’s husband Justin Bieber has previously opened up about her “scary” medical emergency to FilmMagic
“I’m really relieved that I can just move on from this really scary situation and go on with my life,” she said.
Justin, 28, has previously been open about her health scare, describing the situation as “really scary”.
“Most of you probably know or have seen the news about my wife… but she’s OK, she’s good, she’s strong,” the “Peaches” singer said during his concert in Denver, which he later posted to Instagram.
“But it was scary, you know, it was really scary,” he added. “But I know for sure that God has her in His hands, and that’s a good thing.”
