Canadian Embassy Rejection:
Canadian Ambassador to Haiti André François Giroux categorically denied rumors that Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly had requested a six-month delay in presenting evidence to the Canadian Senate about ongoing sanctions in Haiti against former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe. He claims that such a request was never made.
Crisis: former Prime Minister Evans Paul regrets
According to former Prime Minister Evans Paul, “Haitian actors have not reached an agreement to contain the crisis because they are unaware of the seriousness of the situation in the country.” He regrets that the discussions between the protagonists are focused on who is leading the crisis should country instead of how to get it out of this multi-layered crisis in the long term.
The Haitian consulate in Montreal is closed
