The co-founder of airline AirAsia was heavily criticized and labeled “inappropriate” for sharing a half-naked photo of himself on Linkedin enjoying a massage in front of his employees in the middle of a virtual meeting.
“You could have ended the meeting and then gotten a massage. “I don’t think this seems appropriate in a civilized culture,” one internet user responded, according to The Independent on Wednesday.
On Monday, AirAsia big boss Tony Fernandes shared on Linkedin a photo of himself without a sweater in front of his meeting screen, where we can see a masseuse working on loosening his shoulders, according to a “suggestion” from AirAsia CEO Veranita Yosephine after “a stressful week,” the co-founder said.
“I have to [avouer] I love Indonesia and the AirAsia culture [qui me permet de] Get a massage and attend a management meeting [en même temps]” he added, according to one of the screenshots shared on X titled “Some CEOs should stay away from LinkedIn,” which had reached more than 1.5 million views as of Wednesday.
Several internet users quickly condemned the behavior and pointed out a poor working environment for employees, especially women, who may feel uncomfortable or unsafe around their boss.
“Since you’re the boss, they probably won’t challenge you or say anything. “Please listen to the comments you deleted on this message on their behalf,” stressed a second Internet user, according to British media.
“He should be an example of good work ethic and culture without flaunting his body and privilege,” a third added.
After the backlash on social media, the businessman eventually withdrew his publication, noted The Independent.
