Former Expos player Andre Dawson would rather see the Chicago Cubs cap on his Baseball Hall of Fame plaque than that of the Montreal organization.
The 69-year-old told the Chicago Tribune that he made the request to decision-makers at Temple.

Dawson was inaugurated in 2010 and had no say in the choice of cap to be displayed on his plaque.
“When I think about it, I would prefer a Cubs cap for a number of personal reasons,” he said at the time. When the announcement was made last night it was a bit heartbreaking.”
“I don’t expect the temple to agree to this,” Dawson said of his request for change. If they take the time to respond to me, they will take their time. It wouldn’t surprise me if they just didn’t respond to me.”
The former outfielder also stated that he understood the logic behind the cap choice. Dawson played 11 of his 21 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Expos. He played six seasons with the Cubs, two with the Boston Red Sox and two more with the Florida Marlins.
“I always had a love for the Cubs, even though I played in Montreal for 11 years. I have my reasons and I think we should have sat down and talked about it.”
“There’s not much that bothers me, but it’s been on my mind for a few years because I was just told I would wear the Expos logo. I didn’t agree with that at the time. But hey, entering the temple was the most important thing.”
“As time went on, I thought about it more and came to the conclusion that I should have had a say… Personally, I think my mission for the rest of my life, if he does that, is to rectify that situation.” .” .”
