Hamas: close to agreement on ceasefire with Israel

“We are close to reaching an agreement on a ceasefire with Israel,” one of Hamas’ leaders, Ismail Haniyeh, said on Telegram today.
Hamas officials told Al Jazeera that details of the ceasefire would be announced by Qatari mediators once it was finalized. The ongoing talks – explain the sources – would concern a ceasefire for “a certain number of days” and include agreements on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip and the exchange of hostages taken by Hamas with people detained by Israel. The release is intended to particularly affect Israeli women and children in exchange for Palestinian women and children.

At least 17 people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp south of Gaza this evening. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, the victims also include women and children. Three bodies were recovered from the rubble after Israeli forces attacked a residential building in Jabalia, north of Gaza, broadcaster Al Jazeera announced, adding that several people were still trapped under the collapsed building.
