According to a media report, rockets were fired at Israel again at the beginning of the new year. As the Times of Israel reported on New Year's Eve, the terrorist organization Hamas fired more than 20 rockets into Israel. Most were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system. Sirens sounded in several locations in the center of the country and in southern Israel.

Hamas' armed wing said the bombing was a response to the “massacres of civilians” in the Gaza Strip. According to emergency services, no injuries were initially reported, the Times of Israel reported.

There has been a war between Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Israel for almost three months. The trigger was the worst massacre in Israel's history, on October 7, in which terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups murdered around 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped around 240 others to the Gaza Strip. Israel responded with massive airstrikes and a ground offensive. The government's objective is the complete destruction of Hamas. The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war has risen to 21,822, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority in Gaza. Currently, the number cannot be independently verified.
