Radical Islamic terrorist organization Hamas has released a video purporting to show one of its hostages from Israel. The video, published last night on Hamas’ official Telegram channel, whose authenticity could not initially be confirmed, shows a young woman with an injured arm who says in Hebrew that she comes from central Israel. She further explains that she is detained in the Gaza Strip and is being treated well. The woman also demands her release.
According to the caption, the young woman was kidnapped “on the first day” of the Hamas attack on Israel. According to Israel, 199 people were kidnapped in the major Hamas attack on October 7; Hamas itself spoke on Monday of “200 to 250” hostages from Israel alone. There are also citizens of other countries who, according to Hamas, should be released as soon as circumstances allow.
The Israeli hostages also include high-ranking military officers, as former Hamas Politburo head Khaled Meshal said in a TV interview. According to Meshal’s statements, Hamas wants to use the hostages to free Palestinians held captive by Israel.
Immediately before the terrorist group itself first commented on the hostages, Portal reported a telephone conversation between Hamas official Ismail Hanija and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan – here, too, the hostages were allegedly discussed.
