Gaza City. Hamas authorities in Gaza reported that at least 60 people were killed this Sunday (24) in an Israeli bombing of a refugee camp in this Palestinian territory.

The bombing destroyed at least three houses in the Al Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to a report from the Islamist movement's health ministry, which had previously reported 45 deaths.

Bombing continued relentlessly throughout the besieged and confined area. Smoke rose over Khan Yunis (south) and a massive explosion, recorded by AFP from southern Israel, shook the center of the Gaza Strip

The conflict was sparked on October 7 after an incursion by Islamist militants into southern Israel that killed about 1,140 people, most of them civilians, according to an AFP count based on Israeli data. They also kidnapped around 240 people, 129 of whom are still in captivity in Gaza.

In response, Israel vowed to “destroy” Hamas and launched a ground and air offensive against the Palestinian territory of around 2.4 million people, which has been ruled by Hamas since 2007.

According to Hamas, which is considered a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States and the European Union, the Israeli offensive has already killed 20,424 people, most of them women and children. (AFP)
