247 The military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, the AlQassam Brigades, destroyed more than 200 pieces of Israeli military equipment in the Gaza Strip, Hamas spokesman in Lebanon Walid Kilani told Sputnik.
“The Israeli army has also admitted the deaths of 48 of its soldiers, but the actual number of deaths is much higher. Rocket attacks on Israeli settlements are still ongoing,” the spokesman added.
However, the group must also resist Israeli airstrikes that indiscriminately target the entire population of the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli military, as of last Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had carried out 4,300 airstrikes against Hamas since October 7, hitting around 3,000 of its infrastructure facilities and hundreds of command centers.
On October 7, Hamas launched a largescale surprise rocket attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip and stormed across the border, killing and kidnapping people in neighboring Israeli communities. Israel launched retaliatory strikes and ordered a complete blockade of Gaza, cutting off supplies of water, food and fuel. On October 27, Israel launched a major ground attack into the Gaza Strip with the stated aim of eliminating Hamas militants and freeing hostages.
The escalation of the conflict led to the deaths of around 1,200 people in Israel and more than 13,000 in the Gaza Strip.
