Hamas says new Israeli airstrike kills 14 people in Gaza

An Israeli airstrike killed 14 people, the Hamas-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip said on Thursday, as Israel's operations against the militant group intensified.

An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed 14 people on Thursday, according to the Hamas-controlled enclave's health ministry, as Israel carried out new airstrikes and ground operations against the Palestinian militant group.

The Health Ministry said the Israeli attack took place in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, and that nine children were among the dead.

Israel did not comment directly on the attack, but reported an airstrike in Khan Younis that killed three militants who were trying to plant a bomb. The Israeli military said its ground forces killed two more militants in a nearby building.

Israel also reported new attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Thursday and new cross-border rocket fire from Lebanon into Israel.

The attacks came a day after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel against attacking Lebanon in a televised address.

“If the enemy thinks about waging war against Lebanon, we will fight without restrictions, without rules, without borders and without restrictions,” Nasrallah said.

His comments came afterward A senior Hamas official was killed in a drone strike in Beirut.

Hamas and security officials in the region blamed an Israeli drone for the attack that killed Saleh al-Arouri, although Israel has not directly acknowledged responsibility.

The head of Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, David Barnea, said on Wednesday that the agency would pursue all Hamas members involved in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, regardless of their location.

Hezbollah – like Hamas, a militant group backed by Iran and designated a terrorist organization by the United States – has been firing rockets across Israel's northern border since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out in October.
