Thousands of civilians, both Palestinians and Israelis, have died since October 7, 2023, after Palestinian Hamas militants based in the Gaza Strip entered southern Israel in an unprecedented attack, triggering an Israeli-declared war on Hamas with retaliatory bombings on Gaza . (Photo by MOHAMMED ABED / AFP)(AFP)The terrorist, whose name has not been released, calls his parents from a phone he stole from a Jewish woman he murdered in Mefalsim, a kibbutz near the Gaza border. He tells her to check his WhatsApp message to “see everyone” he has slaughtered.
“Look how many I have killed with my own hands! Your son killed Jews!” he says proudly.
He also tells his father that he killed the woman’s husband. “I killed 10 with my own hands! Dad, 10 with my own hands!” he repeats.
His parents seem to celebrate his actions, his father saying, “Oh my son, God bless you!” and his mother hoping for his safe return.
The terrorist refuses to return home, saying, “There is no turning back.” It’s either death or victory.”
He tells his parents to open his embassy to “see the dead.” It is not clear what the images show or whether his parents have seen them.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari noted that the recording was originally submitted to the UN Security Council.
On the other hand, Israeli officials sharply criticized UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday after he appeared to suggest that the main cause of the Hamas terror group’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel was Israel’s continued control over the Palestinian territories.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations called for Guterres to resign, saying during a UN Security Council meeting on the Israel-Hamas war: “It is also important to recognize that Hamas’ attacks did not occur in a vacuum.”
The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 and has claimed more than 5,000 lives in Gaza, according to the United Nations. More than 60% of the fatalities are women and children.
More than 15,000 people were injured and 212 are being held hostage by Hamas.
