The Honey Badgers made an impressive comeback from the Scarborough Shooting Stars to win the Grand Final 90-88.
The winners led 81-64 early in the “Elam Ending” and allowed 24 runs to just seven after that. Caleb Agada gave the Honey Badgers a huge sigh of relief as he landed a free throw to end hostilities.
However, by the end of the game, Christian Vital was named Finals MVP, accumulating 17 points.
It’s a bitter end to a stellar first season for the Shooting Stars, who joined the league at the same time as the Montreal Alliance and Newfoundland Growlers.
As a result of the win, Hamilton’s team will represent Canada in America in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League season, which will feature 12 teams from seven countries. The Edmonton Stingers, the 2021 LECB champions, will also participate.
