Hanoi celebrates the 69th anniversary of its liberation

Vietnam today celebrates the 69th anniversary of the liberation of its capital Hanoi, after nine years of resistance by the people and the army, a direct result of the victory of Dien Bien Phu.

To mark the commemoration, the city’s main arteries are today decorated with flowers, banners, large red flags and giant screens commemorating the anniversary.

In the city center, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Administration, in coordination with the National Archives Center I, displays 100 documents and images about the location in the first floor lobby of the Cultural Lake Information Center and pedestrian street at Le Thai On the Street.

Meanwhile, the photo exhibition “Hanoi – 15 Years of Expansion of its Administrative Boundaries” in the Temple of Literature also provides tourists with an attractive experience when visiting this ancient city.

To mark the occasion, the Hoa Lo Relic Prison Board is holding an exhibition themed “The Roar of the Red River” about the past war of resistance against the French colonialists, while numerous activities will be held at the Thang Imperial Citadel Long cultural site to mark the occasion.

In addition to exhibitions, several theaters in the capital present attractive artistic programs and performances.

Coinciding with the commemoration, it was announced this Tuesday that Hanoi maintained its leadership in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of the year, collecting almost $2.6 billion.

The city’s main investors are Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Europe and the United States. The projects focus on real estate, processing and manufacturing, construction, entertainment services, accommodation and food services, and health and education.

As the country’s capital, Hanoi has competitive advantages as it has sustainable socio-economic development, abundant and high-quality human resources, a growing potential market, and key infrastructure and support services to support businesses.

On the other hand, and according to VNA news agency, in the period 2015-2022, Hanoi focused on expanding international relations and increasing cultural promotion and friendly exchanges to strengthen trade promotion activities and attract foreign direct investment.
