Harassing an Elected Official: The Defendant Had an Unhealthy Love for Marwah Rizqy

The Sorelois, who is accused of molesting MP Marwah Rizqy, is madly in love with her, Le Journal has learned, while the Crown opposes his release.

“He will testify at the next hearing [la semaine prochaine] while the prosecution wants the investigator to be heard,” Me Fabrice Poirier told the court yesterday when it was revealed that his client Claude Delaney will remain in custody at least until next week.

The 62-year-old man, who is believed to be suffering from mental health problems, was arrested on Monday after a series of calls to the Saint-Laurent MP.

According to our information, Delaney wanted to talk about the young baby of the chosen one, among other things, to wish him to be as successful as his mother.

Except that he was barred from contact with Ms Rizqy over other allegations of harassment raised during the campaign.

In addition to trying to get closer to her and offering to become his volunteer driver, he would have threatened the Liberal MP by calling the police and MP Enrico Ciccone’s office to announce his impending death.

On hold

As a result, he was released on bail and, aware of his mental disorders, asked for a consultation for therapy. However, due to staff shortages in the healthcare system, he would still be on a waiting list.

After his alleged relapse last week, he was scheduled to meet with a mental health emergency services specialist, but that meeting never took place.

The bail hearing was instead set for next Wednesday, although the law required that hearing to be held no later than last Thursday.

“He would have liked to have done it yesterday and even the day before yesterday,” the defense attorney said in court.

At the next hearing, the investigator of the files is to testify on the facts. Delaney should also speak, said Me Poirier.
