Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will seek to recoup the $2.8 million they spent renovating Frogmore Cottage now that it’s no longer theirs, according to a royal expert.
An eviction notice of sorts was handed to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by King Charles, who had asked the couple to “vacate” the property.
Harry and Meghan are said to have been “stunned” by the order disguised as a request and will now seek a hefty refund to charge their accounts.
“I’m sure the bean counters at Buckingham Palace would have noticed,” Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkhah told True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat.

“I don’t think Buckingham Palace would evict them, evict them and not consider that there was a period left on the lease. Harry and Meghan renewed the lease last year and I’m sure they will try to get the money back.”
“I don’t think that’s going to be a problem – it’s more about the visuals,” she continued, adding that it “means the king doesn’t care about the visuals of this decision.”
“It is his decision; he does and has done it,” added Nikkhah.

King Charles began the process of evicting the posh five-bedroom property back in January — just a day after Harry’s bombastic memoir, Spare, hit shelves.
The house was given to the exiled royals as a wedding present by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September aged 96.
They reportedly paid five months rent on the home after stepping down from the royal family in March 2020 before spending a total of $3.3 million to cover costs and keeping the home as their own until March 31, 2022 house licensed.

“The payment covers all of their current obligations,” confirmed Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse, in 2021. “We are confident that this represents a good result.”
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a significant contribution to the Sovereign Grant which covered the cost of refurbishing Frogmore Cottage.”
The former Suits actress and Harry now live in their $14 million mansion in Montecito, California with 3-year-old Archie and daughter Lilibet, one.

The house has stayed in the family ever since the Sussexes moved across the pond.
Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have lived in Frogmore since November 2020 but must now pass the baton to Eugenie’s scandal-ridden father Andrew.
For his part, Andrew recently received the boot from Buckingham Palace and is looking into another possible eviction from the Royal Lodge – a residence in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
