Harry and Meghan's home in Montecito is under a severe flood warning as killer storms from the atmospheric river hit California, while Prince races home to be with cancer-stricken King Charles

The Duchess of Sussex is believed to be bunkering down in the nearly $15 million mansion she owns with Prince Harry as devastating storms rage across Southern California.

Harry landed in Britain today to be reunited with his father, King Charles, after it was revealed the monarch is battling cancer.

The Duke is traveling alone, without his wife and their children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, a source close to Harry revealed yesterday.

Meghan is believed to be at home in Montecito with the children as most of Southern California remains under flood warnings and watches.

The historic Pineapple Express weather system dumped record amounts of rain on parts of Los Angeles on Monday, sending mud and boulders down the hillsides where multimillion-dollar homes stood.

The storm is causing chaos in several regions, including star-studded Beverly Hills, Malibu and the Sussexes' Montecito neighborhood.

It's the second storm to hit the West Coast in the past week, and it came just as Los Angeles was welcoming celebrities to the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, prompting organizers to hastily erect a tent over the red carpet .

Harry and Meghan, George Clooney, Lady Gaga and Halle Berry are among the celebrities whose multi-million dollar mansions are threatened by the severe storms.

The Sussexes' $14.65 million Montecito estate was under a flood warning for 28 hours while surrounding Santa Barbara County was inundated with centimeters of rainfall on Monday.

County police shared a video Sunday showing brown water from Mission Creek exploding across West Haley Street and De La Vina Street, turning streets into rivers.

Harry and Meghan live just a few miles east with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, in a mansion with two interconnecting palm trees in the garden and a grand piano in the living room.

It is unclear whether Meghan and the children were at home during most of the bad weather or whether the property was damaged during the storm. Web has contacted the couple's representatives for comment.

However, it is believed that Harry landed on a British Airways flight to London Heathrow today. He reportedly boarded the 11-hour flight after Charles announced he was ill.

The King personally contacted both the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales to inform them of his cancer diagnosis before it was announced by Buckingham Palace.

A source close to Harry said he immediately decided to come to the UK as quickly as possible to be by his father's side. Experts have claimed that Harry's escape to Britain “gives an indication of how serious” the king's condition is.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's office announced that Prince Harry would visit his father, saying: “The Duke has spoken to his father about his diagnosis.” He will travel to the UK to see His Majesty in the coming days .”

Last night, a luxury Range Rover believed to be carrying British royalty was seen arriving at LAX's VIP terminal, and there are claims it boarded on the earliest flight and could be at lunchtime be in London.

His father is believed to be resting at Clarence House today before treatment. Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi left this morning after a visit. It is unknown whether Harry will stay in central London to be close to the king or in Windsor, most likely at the empty Frogmore Cottage.

The royal spent last night at home in London after starting outpatient cancer treatment – family and friends revealed the monarch remains “extremely positive” following his bombshell diagnosis. However, it has been claimed he could miss public duties for several months.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for several neighborhoods in California and some residents have even been evacuated.

According to the National Weather Service, the Los Angeles area received between 5 and 10 inches (12.7 to 25.4 centimeters) of precipitation through Monday night, with more expected.

At the downtown measuring station, 6.7 inches of rain fell through Monday afternoon, nearly half the annual average of 14.25 inches. It was already the third wettest two-day period since 1877, the service said.

Near the Hollywood Hills, flooding carried mud, rocks and household items downhill through Studio City, damaging at least two homes, city officials said. Sixteen people were evacuated.

About 710,000 people across the state were without power Monday evening and people living in homeless camps in many parts of the city were scrambling for safety. Beds were created in the emergency shelters for the city's nearly 75,000 homeless population.

So far, officials have attributed three deaths to the storm that first hit northern California. Emergency crews rescued people from fast-moving water in various parts of Southern California on Monday, including 16 people and five cats in Los Angeles County alone, authorities said.

Also rescued were two homeless people who spent the night on a small island in the Santa Ana River in San Bernardino, about 55 miles (88.51 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, 1,000 firefighters battled 49 debris flows, 130 flood reports, a half-dozen structure fires and several rescues of motorists stranded in vehicles.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass urged residents to avoid driving and warned of downed trees and power lines on flooded streets.

The weather service forecasts up to 8 inches of rain for coastal and valley areas of Southern California, with 14 inches possible in the foothills and mountains over the next two days.

Authorities said the rain would ease on Tuesday but the risk of flooding remained high.

During a dramatic operation in the early hours of Monday morning, LA firefighters rescued 16 people from nine properties in Studio City – the same neighborhood where George Clooney lives in his $2.2 million luxury home.

The Hollywood star recently transformed the mansion he originally bought from Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks in 1995 from a bachelor pad into a palatial estate fit for his wife Amal Clooney and their five-year-old twins Ella and Alexander.

Many residents in the same neighborhood woke up Monday morning to find mud, rocks and debris strewn across the streets while strong winds blew bricks onto parked cars and sidewalks.

Meanwhile, star-studded Malibu is being hit by torrential rain, and the city is currently under a coastal flood warning. The NWS is warning residents to stay away from the water due to “dangerous surf conditions.”

The luxury beach town is home to the likes of Halle Berry, who owns an $8.5 million mansion with an outdoor hot tub that she occasionally shows off on Instagram.

The 57-year-old former Bond girl's 5,000-square-foot apartment has four bedrooms, each with their own balcony, and five bathrooms, while the actress' bedroom has stunning sea views.

Lady Gaga also owns a sprawling mansion in Malibu – the same property where Bradley Cooper offered her the lead role of Ally in A Star Is Born, for which she went on to win an Oscar.

The singer purchased the six-acre property in 2014 for a cool $24 million. The palatial, Mediterranean-style home overlooks Zuma Beach from a clifftop viewpoint.

But apocalyptic scenes have broken out in the beach town, with water and mud pouring down the streets in some areas even as giant sandbags were deployed to prevent landslides.

Forecasters have warned that Los Angeles could experience rainfall of up to 2.5 centimeters per hour for at least 24 hours on Monday.

The severe conditions prompted the Bay Area office of the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a rare hurricane-force wind warning for Big Sur and surrounding areas. Residents were urged to “protect lives” and stay at home wherever possible.

David Gomes, 82, died after being struck by a large sequoia tree Sunday evening in Yuba City, Northern California, according to ABC10.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in eight counties with a combined population of more than 20 million people, and flash flood warnings were issued for parts of Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

“This has the potential to result in a historic storm with strong winds, thunderstorms and even brief tornadoes,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said at a news conference.

Los Angeles experienced its 10th rainiest day on record on Sunday – and the downtown region alone was inundated with 4.1 inches of rain.

Not only were the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County drenched, but the storm was also expected to stall or reverse course in some areas by Tuesday, creating a serious threat of flooding and mudslides.
