Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou says Harry Kane is “totally committed” to the club, despite Bayern Munich’s keen interest in the England international.
With the application for Kane, Bayern have made their intentions clear: Honorary President Uli Hoeneß claimed at the weekend that the 29-year-old had “signaled his decision” to join the German champions.
However, Kane remains a Tottenham player and has traveled with the side for their pre-season tour which will start with the game against West Ham United in Perth on Tuesday.
Ahead of the game, Postecoglou was asked about Kane’s future and his talks with the forward.
“I had a good chat with Harry,” Postecoglou said. “As I said (in his first press conference), there’s probably nothing earth-shattering or defining about what people are looking for.
“Just a good chat. I introduced myself and we mostly talked about the club and where he thinks he is and where he thinks we can improve things.
“Harry is the same as all the other players, you know. It’s not something I ask as they walk through the door, “Do you have a ticket or not?”
“It’s not something I’m asking people to do from the start.
“The reality is we have just a little less than a month until the start of the season, the transfer window is still open for a while so we’ll see how it all plays out.”

When asked if he was bothered by the public courting of Bayern Munich’s Kane, Postecoglou replied: “Personally, no. Nobody spoke to me from Munich!
“There are many people who know Harry better than I do, but nothing can upset him.
“He’s here and while he’s here he’s fully committed to what we do.
“That’s how I saw things. As for me, it doesn’t affect me in any way.
“If other clubs want to talk about our contract players, that’s a bigger problem for them than for us.”
Club captain Hugo Lloris, meanwhile, has not been included in Spurs’ pre-season squad as the 36-year-old is seeking a move after 11 years in north London.
“We had an open discussion and he just felt it would be better for him if there was a move ahead,” Postecoglou added. “Rather than taking him halfway across the world, he stays at the training ground, works there and prepares for his next opportunity.
“It doesn’t take away from what he has brought to the football club. The hardest thing for a footballer is not being able to write your final.
“It’s probably not the way he wanted to end his time at Tottenham with everything he’s contributed but at the same time I don’t think it has to be anything other than a positive result as he’s leaving as someone who has made a name for himself at a very big football club and I think that’s what all the players are looking for.”
Son Heung-min also spoke ahead of the West Ham game and was again asked about the possibility of playing in Saudi Arabia as several top-flight players in European football had already moved to the Gulf state during this transfer window.
“If I wanted to go there, I would probably be out there and not here,” Son joked of his move to the Saudi Pro League. “I love to play football, of course money is also important.
“But I dream of playing in the Premier League and I still have a lot to do. Obviously, especially last season when I suffered physically.
“As far as I know, that’s not Sonny. I want to prove this season that I’m the Sonny we all know. I want to prove that to myself and give something back to the club I belong to.”
