But the comedian later revealed his pal specifically pushed back his tour dates so he could guest perform.
Speaking to Roman Kemp on Friday after the emotional final episode of Capital’s breakfast show on Friday, he shared that Harry had worked his gigs around the series and stayed in LA to perform.
James said: “He said, ‘Well, when is it? I have to, I’ll come to the last show.
“I’m really really excited to do it, it’s going to be sad, I’ll try to keep it together, I’ll try not to cry my eyes out, which I think is inevitable.
“But I really don’t want to become a meme.”

The host also opened up about the rumors that Harry’s One Direction bandmates would be reuniting in the final episode, admitting it didn’t happen on his talk show.
James said: “We love One Direction, I’m a huge fan, personally and professionally, and I actually think if we’re being completely honest, if the day comes that they reform or are just seen together, it shouldn’t be be like that in a four or five minute segment on a late night talk show.
“It was going to be an hour-long documentary, followed by a tour, followed by an album… we had to be like, ‘No, no, that’s not going to happen’ very quickly.
He also spoke about one of his most memorable carpool karaoke segments, where he sat with Bruno Mars and sang his hits.
The television personality said: “I couldn’t believe he was going to do it and then we did it… that was the heyday of the Uptown Funk era, I’ll never forget it, we were both wearing those silk shirts and then my biggest memory of it.” is very depressed afterwards because it was over and I said goodbye to Bruno.
“If you do carpool you’re in the car maybe two or four hours, I just love music, I love artists and singers so much I imagine we’ll become friends and then you’re not because it’s Bruno.” Mars.
“I went back to him after that and then I was like, ‘Well, I’m never going to do that again…’ like I’m showing you the movie Grease or Goodfellas, you can watch it once but you’ll never see it again.”
James was in tears as he signed off on his final episode of The Late Late Show after eight years at the helm as he prepares to return to the UK and regain favor with the British public.
