The president of Harvard Claudine Gay he steps back. Gay, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, was the first black woman to lead America's most famous university. The resignation comes after weeks of controversy, including allegations anti-Semitism during the protests on campus following the attack by Hamas of October 7th and disputes therefor copied material in his scientific publications without giving the necessary attribution to the sources.
Before a committee of the US House of Representatives, Gay gave evasive answers to questions such as: “Appoint them genocide of Jews is violating Harvard's code of conduct?” After the pro-Palestine demonstrations in October, a group of students released a document blaming themall of Israel of the attack that killed 1,400 people.
