Harvey Weinstein apologized after being caught with a box of Milk Duds in a Los Angeles prison, against the rules of the prison.
“It was an innocent misunderstanding,” Weinstein, 69, said TMZ in a statement Thursday through his representative Juda Engelmeier. ‘It will not happen again. I have been a model prisoner, following the rules and regulations, and I sincerely regret it.
Locksmiths in Los Angeles County Jail found the convicted rapist in possession of the candy after meeting with his lawyer, Sean Berkeley, in November, sources said.

The infamous filmmaker told authorities he took the candy with him last July during his extradition from New York to Los Angeles, while authorities suspect he may have been supplied with Milk Duds by a member of his legal team.
Weinstein’s lawyer, Mark Verksman, said no criminal action had been taken against Weinstein by court or prison officials.
His chief lawyers, Verksman and Alan Jackson, said Diversity: “We were informed about this and we are very sorry that it happened. This had never happened before and never since. Harvey was a model prisoner and intends to continue as such.
Weinstein remains in custody at Twin Towers Prison in downtown Los Angeles, where he is in the medical ward of the Correctional Treatment Center.
