Has Hunter’s investigation led to a Biden file search, Republican asks

Has the Hunter investigation turned Biden’s lawyers into a ‘clean-up crew’? Top Republicans are “dying” to know why “highly paid attorneys” were scouring the president’s properties for classified documents after five years

  • Rep. Michael Waltz said GOP will “get to the bottom of” the Biden files.
  • Asked if lawyers found the classified documents during searches of the President’s homes and offices as part of the investigation into his son, Hunter Biden
  • Claims Biden ‘turned these lawyers into a cleaning crew’
  • Comes after Biden’s lawyers found at least two dozen classified documents at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware, and at his think-tank office in Washington, DC

Republicans want to know why Joe Biden’s attorneys searched his homes and offices when they found the classified documents — as they promise to “get to the bottom of the Biden files’ ordeal.”

Representative Michael Waltz suggested to Fox & Friends First Wednesday morning that the reason the documents were found in the first place may have been related to subpoenas in the Hunter Biden investigation.

He also said GOP-controlled House Committees must demand records tracking top-secret information Biden obtained during his tenure as vice president.

In recent months and weeks, Biden’s attorneys have found documents, some marked “top secret,” at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, and at his Penn Biden Center think tank in Washington, DC

The files of Biden’s vice presidency were found five years after he left office – but were only revealed at least two months after their initial discovery.

Florida Rep. Michael Walz promised Republicans to “get to the bottom of the Biden files scandal” and asked if President Joe Biden’s attorneys used the classified documents while searching properties and offices related to an investigation would have found against his son Hunter Biden

Republicans wonder if the timing of revealing the existence of the documents was to avoid negative repercussions for Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections.

Members of the GOP have also complained that there is unequal treatment surrounding the Justice Department’s response to improper handling of classified documents involving Biden to former President Donald Trump, whose home was raided by the FBI in August.

No such raid was conducted on Biden’s private residence.

“We’re going to get to the bottom of several important things,” Waltz said. “First, I’m still dying to know why high-priced, $1,000-an-hour lawyers evicted Biden’s office in the first place after those documents sat there for five years. So what drove that?’

“There’s a lot of talk – was it subpoenas from the Hunter Biden investigation that suddenly turned these lawyers into a cleaning crew to search every document,” he added. ‘So what happened there?’

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy named Rep. Jim Jordan to head the new select subcommittee on arming the federal government, reporting to the House Judiciary Committee.

Waltz said that Jordan will likely request logs “very quickly” to find out what type of material Biden took from the White House from his time as vice president — as well as the “source and methods” that may have been exposed.

“I know from my time in the White House years ago that there are protocols and a tracking system for top secret, especially top secret compartment information that goes to the president and the vice president,” Waltz noted in his Fox interview.

“We should request these, and I suspect you’ll see Jim Jordan do that very quickly,” he added.

After his time at the Pentagon, Waltz served as Defense Policy Director for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates as Counter-Terrorism Advisor to then-Vice President Dick Cheney.

“I want him to see an intelligence damage assessment of what exactly those documents were and the sources and methods they revealed,” the Florida GOP congressman continued.

“I think those are reasonable requests. And the White House will not be able to avoid this problem.’

The new Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government will investigate federal law enforcement and national security agencies, including the FBI.
