Hat trick for Tomas Hertl: a rare moment of celebration for the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks showed a determination we didn’t know they had this season, coming off a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at UBS Arena thanks to Tomas Hertl’s hat trick.

With just 8:05 minutes left to play, the visitors finally got going after being dominated 4-1. After Kevin Labanc’s goal, Hertl took the lead with two quick goals.

The Czech striker completed his hat-trick by receiving the perfect pass at the edge of the net from Alexander Barabanov. This is the Czech striker’s sixth hat-trick, a first since January 8, 2022. Watch the video above.

William Eklund played a strong game for the Sharks with three points in the final 10 minutes of the game. It was the 21-year-old who scored the winning goal in extra time.

For San Jose it is the seventh win in 26 games. The Californian club is on a good streak under these circumstances, boasting a record of 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.
