Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republicanalyzed his country’s relations with Russia and the current international context in his most recent lecture Interview with the RT TV channel in Spanish.

The PCC emphasizes this on its website today In a dialogue with journalist Aliana Nieves Quesada, the head of state described relations between Cuba and Russia as excellentthat responds to historic bonds of friendship and brotherhood that have been forged since Soviet times.

Díaz-Canel described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a sincere friend of Cuba, who also proved it with facts; and thanked Moscow for its humanitarian contribution with food and medicines, as well as mutual cooperation in several key areas of our development.

Regarding bilateral relations, he referred to friendship, but also valued it as politically strategic and with the possibility of joint, mutual participation beneficial to both sides in economic, commercial and financial relations.

On behalf of Cuba, he condemned and opposed the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) towards the borders with Russia and all coercive measures and sanctions imposed on that country.

Regarding the criticism of Russia-Cuba relations, Díaz-Canel reiterated that she was responding to the European conflict in the world and building a defamatory media campaign against the Russian Federation and the values ​​of its people.

At the national level, he stressed the importance of the recently passed Social Communications Act, which he described as historic and modern.

The Cuban President stressed that the legislative initiative will be adopted while Cuba and other countries are being attacked by campaigns of hate, slander and discredit organized from imperial power centers supported by the United States government and based on transnational platforms.

With regard to the Latin American region, he referred to the demand for ever greater integration, which he classified as a duty of all Latin Americans.

This meant that world relations were based on the aggressive policies of the United States, constantly building walls, using coercive sanctions, blackmail, aggression and slander.

A completely unfair, undemocratic international economic order prevailshe stressed, pointing to the fact that Washington’s hegemonic policy is manifested in the complete control of the world economy by this government and organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

In this sense, Díaz-Canel praised the leadership of the Brics groupa bloc composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa that defends multipolarity and multilateralism in relations.

The Brics countries resist Cold War concepts“They offer the possibility of a fairer and fairer international economic order and promote more cooperative relations between countries in economic and trade relations,” said the Cuban President.
