Tropical Storm Bret continued to gain organization and intensity slightly today. At six o’clock in the afternoon, its central region was at 12.3 degrees north latitude and 48.9 degrees west longitude, a position that places it 1,150 kilometers east-southeast of Barbados in the southern group of Lesser Antilles.
Bret’s central pressure is down to 1006 HectoPascals, his forward speed is 30 kilometers per hour and he is heading west. The maximum sustained winds have increased to 75 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts. Tropical Storm Bret will continue to gain organization and intensity over the next 24 hours as it approaches the Lesser Antilles arc at a similar direction and speed.
The next tropical cyclone alert for this system will be issued tomorrow, Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m.
