A 58-year-old Dutch man who got into the habit of eating out in restaurants before feigning discomfort without paying has been exposed.
Last weekend the man from Delft faked a stroke, but paramedics couldn't believe them and refused to take him to hospital.
Given the turn of events, the careless guest refused to pay the bill, prompting the restaurant to call the police, Belgian media 7sur7 reports.
“He thought he could avoid a €100 bill by pretending to be sick,” said a manager at the facility who filed a complaint against his client.
The unscrupulous customer is known to police as a fan of the “resto-basket,” a technique in which you sit down at a restaurant, eat and leave without paying.
Civil proceedings have been initiated against the man who ate in restaurants in Delft 127 times without paying, it said.
