The 35yearold, identified as Graig Harrison, said he even stumbled back with the fear he felt opening the package. He even revealed that he had already eaten one of the bananas when he noticed something odd.

There was something else in the banana bag

He noticed a kind of black lump in the middle of the banana tree. Looking closer, he saw that there was a large spider full of young around them. This was reported by the newspaper The Sun.

According to the interview, the Brit was shocked when he noticed a spider got caught in the bananas. He even thinks he developed a kind of animal phobia after the event.

What did he do with the animal?

According to information from the newspaper, Harrison put the spider in a box and sent the animal to an agency responsible for combating zoonoses. The origin of the fruit was Latin America, more precisely the Dominican Republic.

The Zoological Society of London recognized the species as a hunting spider. She usually lives in banana plantations and has managed to camouflage herself among the fruit. On average, this animal can reach a diameter of up to 15 centimeters.

After the incident, the man received a formal apology and £100 in compensation from the shop.

“We have robust processes in place to prevent spiders from traveling with our fruit, but on rare occasions they can sneak in,” was the store’s response. The species is not poisonous, but its sting can be quite painful.
