He hides his wife’s body in the freezer to collect his pension

A 57-year-old Norwegian man was sentenced to three and a half years in prison last week for hiding his wife’s body in a freezer for five years to collect his pension.

Last Monday, the court in Värmland, Sweden, convicted the suspect of “gross violation of civil rights,” “fraud” and “falsification of documents.”

Thanks to the lie he used to deceive his in-laws, the fifty-year-old would have pocketed almost 1.3 million crowns, or more than 100,000 euros, in five years.

In court, the suspect finally admitted to putting his partner’s body in his freezer after finding her lifeless in their home in Arjang, Sweden.

He then claimed that he had forgotten to bury it, an argument that did not convince the court that convicted him, RMC Radio reported.

A psychiatric examination ordered by the judge revealed no mental illness in the defendant, who assured during his trial that he was still in contact with his partner thanks to telepathy.

In addition to the three and a half year prison sentence he will serve, the defendant must also pay back the money he received over five years.
