He receives 400000 euros to put an end to this

He receives 400,000 euros to put an end to this iconic FPS, but his game is such a flop that he decides to refund the donors… – Millenium

That’s the sad story of this weekend. While bulkhead studio I hoped to create the best FPS ever, dethroning one of the greatest in this field, Battlefield. It was a cold shower when the latter realized that the players absolutely couldn’t, or at least couldn’t at all. ..

Battalion 1944 becomes a real fiasco…

Supporting a project can sometimes be risky, especially when it benefits from crowdfunding. This is the case Battalion 1944 which was able to see the light of day thanks to the Kickstarter platform and subsequently benefited from a handsome sum of 400,000 euros. If the future seemed bright, join in this adventure Square Enix Unfortunately, who had not hesitated to buy 20% of the shares of the Bulkhead studio, the soufflé fell very quickly, quite violently, it must be admitted…

Despite a brief success peaking at 16,000 players, the community gradually left Battalion 1944, and to make matters worse, the association with Square Enix ended a few weeks after the title’s demise. Afterward, Bulkhead decided to rebrand his game, turning it into Battalion Legacy, and most importantly, decided to make it completely free for playerswhich then makes it a true free-to-play game.

Nothing works today, and that’s an understatement… Unfortunately for the developers, Battalion Legacy is struggling to surpass 10 players per dayand as a result, the studio made an important decision: He decided to give a refund to everyone who had participated in the Kickstarter funding. To do this, the developers have sent out a campaign by email, and afterwards thanked for the support provided, but above all also for the possibility of offering a refund to those who request it.

What future does Battalion Legacy have?

At the time of this writing When the studio made the decision to refund the Kickstarter campaign, it still didn’t announce that it meant the end of its game. For now the servers remain open, but unfortunately given the numbers tracked with SteamDB and the very low player count, they may eventually close their doors…

If such a decision should nevertheless be made, we will of course keep you informed.
