Louis and Elise met when they had both just suffered a stroke and lost some of their bodily functions. Together they rebuilt themselves and had a child.
When Elise Mathy suffered her stroke in 2017, she was no longer able to use the left side of her body. Six months after the accident, she met Louis, who had also just suffered a stroke and lost function on the right side of his body at just 24 years old. Elise was pregnant and feared for her child. To restore the use of her left arm, she undergoes two hours of rehabilitation every day. For his part, Louis decided to relearn his language since the stroke had cut him off from it.
After the baby was born, everyone went back to work
When their child was born, the couple cared for the baby hand in hand with one right and one left hand. Louis and Elise each returned to their jobs. “It’s not the work that stresses me out, it’s the fatigue I have to deal with. “That’s the most complicated thing, even six and a half years after the stroke,” explains Elise. She has since become a doctor.
